This week's letter in ABC Wednesday is I. My choice for the topic is information.
These two trail signs in Riisitunturi National Park (Posio, Lapland) gives you distances back to starting point in Noukovaara (3km) and to top of Riisitunturi fell.
Riisitunturi National Park might this year get more than its usual share of visitors, because in Retki '10 (trade show about hiking) it was selected as hiking location of year 2010.

Jätkänkynttilä sytytettynä

Valokuvatorstain 158. haasteen aiheena oli tuli.
Ensimmäinen assosiaatio tulesta oli nuotion kaltainen tuli, vaikka viikon haastetta olisi kieltämättä voinut tulkita paljon syvällisemminkin. Tämä oli sikäli kehno assosiaatio, että oma kokoelmani nuotion äärellä kuvista on sangen rajallinen, koska itse en juuri yksin retkeillessä viitsi laittaa nuotiota pystyyn ja isomman ryhmän kanssa liikkuessa taas on hankala saada hyvää nuotiokuvaa, jossa ei olisi muita ihmisiä mukana. Tämän seurauksena jouduin menemään ajassa kesään 2004 ennenkuin löysin tämän kuvan laavun äärellä sytytetystä jätkänkynttilästä.

This week's letter in ABC Wednesday is Hossa Hiking Area in Suomussalmi, Finland (just south from Kuusamo). This particular hiking area is best known from rock paintings, which can be found from bottom of that rock face in photograph. In summertime only real option for watching those paintains is from the pier that you can see next to us, because all the people in photograph are actually standing on top of frozen lake.

Tori heräilee talviunesta

Hakaniemen tori maaliskuussa

Aamulla tuli taas käytyä kuvaamassa Hakaniemen toria osana syyskuussa alkanutta 12 kuvaa valokuvausprojektia. Helmikuun ja maaliskuun välinen ero Hakaniemen torilla on melko radikaali. Torin korkeiden pylväiden valot on nyt sammutettu ja vihannesmyyjien teltta on tehnyt paluun, vaikka siellä ei näin aamuvarhain vielä mitään myytykään.
Torin kahvitarjoilun osalta joudumme vielä odottamaan ainakin huhtikuun kuvaan asti ennenkuin Hakaniemen torin Kahvisiskot tekevät paluun torille.

Looking up towards Eiffel Tower

When I saw this week's topic ("HIGH or LOW" (Photos from a different perspective, Photos from the top or bottom of Buildings, Mountains, Towers, Underneath,...)) in Photo Theme for Thursday, my first reaction was queues to Eiffel Tower. Unfortunately, I soon found out that I had already used that photograph in Nov 2009 (WDYL) and May 2009 (ABC Wednesday) and that invalidates it from this week's options.
After quick thinking, I decided to do bit extreme (=ISO3200 on Canon EOS 40D) photograph from Paris, which was taken "straight up" from bottom of Eiffel Tower in the evening.

Hiidenportti Gorge

Hiidenportti Gorge in Hiidenportti National Park

This week's letter in ABC Wednesday is G.
My choice for this letter is gorge. To be more precise, photograph is from Hiidenportti Gorge in Hiidenportti National Park, which is part of Sotkamo in Finland.
It is only 1.3km long, but it has nice vertical rock walls on both sides and trail goes along the top of those walls.
Even though it is not that far away from my parent-in-laws home, I've only visited it once and that was just before end of year in wintertime.

A Ray of Sunlight in Africa

This week's topic in Two 4 Tuesday is 'Sunshine – Rain'.
In these (Two 4 Tuesday) challenges, I have often used photographs from Africa and this week is no exception. This time, photograph was taken in the morning from the rim of Ngorongoro crater. I can't recall for certain, whether or not it was raining on some parts of crater, but it would not be that uncommon in Ngorongoro national park that one part of crater is enjoying from sunshine and other parts would be getting rain.
